Subject: Stray animals on the road
Dear Sir
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the authorities, concerned to the nuisance caused by the stray animals on the roads. This problem is widespread. These animals, mainly cows, can be seen in large numbers at any time of the day and pose serious problems to road users. There have been a lot of accidents, both minor and fatal.
I think the neighbourhood democratic council, the town councils and the police force can play a leading role to remedy the situation. Stray animal catchers should be employed. Police must ensure that all adult animals are branded and registered so that their owners can be traced and prosecuted if their animals cause an accident. Cattle owners don’t get their animals branded deliberately to prevent their identification in the case of an accident.
