My dear Mukesh,

Recently we had a very thrilling football match in the Lala Lajpat Rai Stadium. It was played between Khalsa Senior Secondary School and our School.

The match was played last Sunday at 4 p.m. Both the teams assembled at the fixed venue. Both the teams were in their respective school uniforms. The players of the two teams were in high spirits. Mr Ganeshi Lal, the well-known football coach acted as a referee. He blew the whistle. The captains of the teams came forward, they shook hands. There was a toss. Our captain Mr Anand won it.

The ball was placed in the circle. Mr Anand hit it very hard. It bounced as high as the sky itself. Then it was hit and re-hit. It went this way and that way. The match began to gain momentum (speed). Both the teams were entangled in a well-contested match. The players from either side were very strong, they had full control of the ball. Neither of them permitted the ball to reach the ‘D’. Only five minutes were left in the rust half. Khalsa School’s player Avtar Gill kicked the ball so swiftly that it went straight into the ‘D’. There was a goal. There were loud cheers.

Now it was half time. The players had refreshment and Campa Cola. There was a whistle. The match re-started. This time our team was extra-cautious, we played wonderfully. We made two goals within ten minutes. Towards the end, we were the winner by one goal. The referee gave a long whistle. The match came to a close. I enjoyed the match thoroughly.

Yours sincerely,

Kartar
