There is no denying the fact that a good hostel plays a very important role in education. By supplying the right conditions for the development of the whole personality of the individual child, it plays a vital role in the education of the whole man. A child is not born human. What he possesses, in the hidden form, certain potentialities and is endowed with the power of growth. It is the function and concern of education to develop those latent qualities in the child and to transform his original nature into human nature. This function of education can best be achieved by providing the child with a decent hotel, which would help him to develop such qualities as are desirable and curb those which are undesirable. Hostel life provides conditions for sharpening mental faculties. It develops such qualities as toleration, sympathy, co-operation, moral courage and flexibility. In short, it helps greatly in socializing and humanizing pupils.
