Sir

Sub. : Grave concern over converting the sports complex into the residential complex.

Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of the concerned authorities and common masses towards Grave concern over converting the sports complex into the residential complex. I am writing this letter to express my resentment at D.D.A.’s decision to build houses on the plot of land previously resented for building a sports complex.

Today, India stands nowhere in the sports field at an international level. This is evident from the poor performance of our sports meets. During the last so many years, India has not produced even a single sportsman who could bring laurels to the country. This is due to the fact that we fail to prepare our sportsmen at the grass-root level the way sportsmen and sportswomen are trained in China, Japan, or Russia.

We don’t provide proper facilities to the young aspirants. The decision of D.D.A. to build houses on the piece of land previously reserved for building a sports complex has come as a rude shock to all sports-lovers. It has been strongly resented by many famous Indian Sportsmen. I appeal to D.D.A. to review its decision and build a sports complex as it was decided 10 years back. I am sure this sports complex will go a long way In promoting sports culture in the country.

 Yours faithfully,

 Rita Sharma.
