The Director, T.V.

Programme,

New Delhi.

Sir,

I’m a regular viewer of all T.V. Programmes. Our T.V. programmes are not of the highest order. There are certain programmes which are highly exciting and thrilling. They keep the viewers glued to the T.V. sets such as Mahabharata, Ramayana. Once there had been very interesting serials on the T.V. such as Buniyad, Hum Log and Yehi Hai Zindagi. Recently every Saturday in the afternoon transmission, there is a repetition of one serial Aa Bail Mujhe Maar’ of Amol Palekar. It is highly enthralling. One enjoys it whole-heartedly. One goes into peals of laughter after viewing it.

There are other serials and programmes which are too philosophical and boring. The boring Krishi Programme— Kissan Bhaiyon Ke Liya and Faisla should be stopped altogether. The classical ragas and dances are little worth for the youth of today. He wants Western dance such as Rock `n’ Roll or Punjabi Bhangra or Punjabi Pop songs. Items of such nature are included abundantly (plentifully).

Today is an age of science and technology. Stress is to be laid on items dealing with science and astronomy (education of stars etc). Programmes like Mahabharata and Vishvamitra are in much demand. Such serials which keep the viewers spellbound should be introduced at once without further delay. Do telecast some good foreign detective serials.

Thanks.

Yours faithfully,
