Once a lamb was drinking water on a stream……….. there came a wolf, too……… the wolf wanted to eat it up……… he thought of a number of excuses…….. then he devoured it ……….Moral.
Ans:- THE WOLF AND THE LAMB
Once there was a very small lamb. It played and skidded all day long. One day it considered itself too big. It went to the river to drink water. Its parents advised it to be cautious of wild animals. It did not listen to their advice. It reached the stream dancing and playing. It knelt on the stream and started drinking.
By chance, a wolf came to the stream. He, too, wanted to drink water. He saw the lamb. He wanted to eat it up. Now he began to think of a number of excuses. He said, ” Dear child, why are making the water muddy ?” The lamb who was a total picture of innocence said, “Sir, I am not making the water dirty. I am drinking downstream. Your Highness is drinking upstream. The water is coming from you to me and not from me to you.” This was cent per cent correct. The wolf started drinking again. He began another excuse. He said, ” Oh Lamb! Why did you abuse me last year?” The lamb again very humbly replied,” Sir, I was not born last year. I am hardly four months’ old. How can I abuse you then ?”
The wolf was not to be-be put off. He immediately said, “Then it must be your parents who called me names. You must suffer for their impertinence (rudeness)”. Saying this, the cruel wolf jumped upon the tiny lamb. He killed it in one second. Then he ate it up very quickly. The poor lamb lost its life for no fault of his. It is right that an evildoer and powerful villain can harm you to any length.
Moral: Any excuse will do for an evildoer.
