Ans.                                                                 Walked Fast

Raghav walked fast. It was getting dark. He then realised that he had lost his way. He was in the thick of the forest. He couldn’t even return. Going back to the town meant walking back for four more miles. He was in a fix. Should he go back to the town and stay with one of his friends? Should he head towards home? Home! Sweet home! ‘Home’ meant security and safety. He was to walk another four miles to reach home. The forest which appeared a green-paradise during the day presented itself as a haunt of ghosts and spirits. But they didn’t give any romance or excitement now. He was confused and worried. He was not so much worried about ghosts and spirits as the forest was of wild animals. The jungle was a home of wolves, jackals, foxes and even leopards. Soon it was complete darkness. Howels of wolves and foxes could be heard from a distance. What was his best option? He was to be extra-cautious and alert. If needed, he would have to climb up a tall tree to save himself from a predator. With heavy but cautious steps he continued walking. He saw a flicker of light in the distance. Naturally, it was a farmhouse. It was midnight when he knocked at the door. An angry old man opened the door. He was in no mood to receive Raghav as his guest. Raghav narrated his woeful story to the old man. He was moved. He offered him some sweet porridge and milk. He harnessed his bulls in a cart and drove Raghav to his village and home. The worried parents ran out to receive him. They thanked the old farmer for taking all that toil and trouble to help their lost son. The old man only smiled and said, “Fortune favours the brave.”
